Mr. Khan is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan. He began his practice of law in the year 2019 as an associate at Dr. Shahnawaz Memon & Associates, with a particular focus towards tax and customs law. Prior to joining Maaz Waheed & Co., Mr. Khan was affiliated with Shah & Co. as an associate, where under the mentorship of Mr. Ovais Ali Shah, Mr. Khan continued the practice of law with particular focus on constitutional, taxation, customs, civil, service, intellectual property rights and criminal (white collar crimes) matters.

 

Mr. Khan maintains expertise in disputes pertaining to civil laws, criminal laws, intellectual property laws, tax laws, customs laws and constitutional matters. Over the course of legal practice, Mr. Khan has represented and successfully handled complex tax issues ranging from applicability of tax to illegal use of powers by the tax officers before tax departments, Appellate Tribunal and High Courts. Mr. Khan has earned experience in customs laws by representing various clients in complex disputes such as classification and valuation of goods before Customs Departments, Collector of Customs (Appeals), Customs Appellate Tribunal and High Courts.

 

Mr. Khan has been engaged in and has successfully handled complex constitutional issues relating to vires of parliamentary laws. Mr. Khan was part of the legal counsels, who successfully pleaded vires of “Super Tax”, enacted through Finance Act 2022, before the High Court of Sindh. Mr. Khan has further been trusted to pursue issues of vires of various provisions of Income Tax laws and Sales Tax laws before the High Courts of Pakistan.

 

Further, Mr. Khan possesses experience of intellectual property laws as he has successfully represented various clients in complex issues such as cross-border trademarks ownership claims before Intellectual Property Rights Tribunal and High Courts. Additionally, Mr. Khan have successfully represented in cases pertaining to Revenue (Land) before the Board of Revenue Authorities and High Courts.

 

Apart from his law practice, Mr. Khan writes academic papers on various issues of law and is pursuing to get those papers published in renowned academic journals.
